Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV offers an upscale interior design with soft-touch materials throughout. The driver will experience an easy-to-use UConnect infotainment system hailed as one of the best in the industry. Under the hood, you have an option of six and eight-cylinder engines, some that reach over 700 horsepower and off-road capabilities that are hard to match.

Ford Explorer

The Explorer was completely redesigned last year and the latest iteration of how Ford builds their SUVs. The Explorer offers a host of powertrain options, an updated interior, and great safety features. The Explorer is one of Ford's best-selling vehicles.

Interior: 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2021 Ford Explorer

As many automotive publications have noted, the Grand Cherokee's interior quality is superior to the Ford Explorer. With its modern upscale interior design language and high-quality materials, which the Cherokee offers even on lower trim levels, gives this SUV the win in this category. This is not to say that the Explorer is any slouch. The Explorers interior has improved greatly since its redesign in 2020, but you will find more hard plastics than you are accustomed to in a vehicle of this stature.

Exterior: Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Ford Explorer

The exterior design of both vehicles is unique to their brands. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee highlights its strong, muscular, and aggressive exterior design language in every line and crease. Its smooth lines that start at the front and make their way to the rear provide a distinctive set of reflections in the paint. At the rear, the Cherokee offers LED taillights that get noticed anywhere it goes. The Ford Explorer is quite the looker itself. With a large front end and attractive rear, though, it does come off a bit bland in its character. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Performance

Both vehicles offer consumers a fantastic selection of powertrains; however, the Grand Cherokee comes out on top. Its standard engine is a 3.6-litre V6 that produces 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. You can step up to the 5.7-lire HEMI V8 that pushes out 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. If you are looking for all-out performance, then the SRT and Trackhawk are your answer. The SRT has a 6.4-Litre HEMI with 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, while the Trackhawk bolts on a supercharger and pushes out 707 mind-bending horsepower. Each engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic that provides not only crisp acceleration and great fuel economy.

The Ford Explorer offers its own suite of engine options starting with a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The next option is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that can push out either 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque or 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, depending on the trim. Lastly, Ford has introduced a 3.3-litre V6 with a hybrid power train, and total power output is 318 horsepower.
